Our client, an Investment Firm based in Northern Suburbs Cape Town, is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join their team.

The purpose of the role will be to assist the Head of Governance, Governance Team, External Compliance Officer and investment partners with overall compliance with anti-money laundering legislation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Have a detailed understanding of and being up to date with the AML / AFC regulatory framework, principles and standards

  • Implement and apply a risk-based approach to AML / AFC

  • Assist with the compilation and evaluation of the group Risk Management and Compliance programs (RMCPs)

  • Reporting on the effectiveness of implemented CDD / EDD processes

  • Transaction monitoring

  • Detect, investigate alerts, report suspicious activities and or transactions (SARs / STRs)

  • Provide advice and guidance in relation to legislative / regulatory requirements, alerts, suspicious or unusual activities

  • Identify training requirements on all aspects of ML, TF and sanctions risk – both in terms of general awareness & role specific training requirements; assess effectiveness of training provided

  • Continuous improvement of the AML / AFC RMCP / process, while ensuring sufficient evidence of all changes remain documented

  • Understand the digital landscape, contribute to technology plan and the relevant technology requirements, identify system improvements or alternative systems that can improve overall team efficiency

  • Good working knowledge of financial services legislation, to serve as back-up to other members of the governance team

  • Must be able to prepare and deliver presentations on topics such as changes in regulations or new developments which impact on our business

    Requirements

  • Min 10 years’ experience in an AML compliance role or similar role.

  • Compliance qualification will be advantageous.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – must be comfortable presenting to groups
