Our client, a Financial Consultancy firm based in Century City, Cape Town, is seeking an Accountant to join their Finance team.
The Accountant is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and full cycle accounting. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely month-end and year-end closings, and compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Process invoices, employee expense reports, and payments accurately and on time.
Verify invoice details against purchase orders, contracts, and internal approvals.
Maintain vendor records in the accounting system.
Prepare AP aging schedules and reconciliations for management review.
Prepare and issue invoices in accordance with internal data and agreements.
Record and reconcile payments received, ensuring accurate AR balances.
Prepare AR aging reports and provide updates to management.
Ensure proper application of credits, adjustments, and internal journal entries.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all company accounts.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and the general ledger.
Ensure timely posting of cash receipts, disbursements, and transfers.
Manage journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
Reconcile sub-ledgers (AP, AR, fixed assets) with the general ledger.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
Requirements
National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–4 years of experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Experience in full cycle accounting, reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
Previous exposure to audits and working within a compliance-driven environment is an advantage.
