* Management and supervision of accounts department
* Input, processing and management of General Ledger function
* Computation of VAT , tax , PAYE and submission to tax authorities
* Production, reconciliation and analysis of monthly management accounts , including detailed analysis and critical point summary
* Reconciliation of loan accounts
* Stock count valuation report
* Fixed Asset Register and monthly depreciation
* Current asset management , including debtors collections
* Foreign Currency Revaluation
* Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled
* Preparing and managing of all financial audit
* Producing annual budgets and forecasts
* Cash flow management
* Sales reports
* Monthly payroll processing, bi-annual filings and IRP5 EMP501 submissions
* Managing incoming funds and CFC accounts for exports
* Planning, structure  and executing annual EE Plans and lead EE audit compliance
* Accountability and administration  of XERO, DEAR and SimplePay systems. ( Financial  , inventory and payroll systems)
* Ethnical committee assistance and leading of projects to ensure audit compliance
* International company structure setup, VAT registration and forex calculations
* Credit recon reviews and approval of supplier accounts
* Procurement review and approval of orders
* Maintain and build relationships with key suppliers
* DTI claims processing
* Ensuring international tax compliance- Amazon, other sales and purchases
* Managing bank accounts and clearing funds(includes payment gateways and international bank accounts)
* Management of the financial aspects of Key Account Cost Accounting

* A Financial /Accounting degree is required- CA(SA) advantageous
* Atleast five years working experience in finance
* Proven track record at a senior financial level in manufacturing (food manufacturing highly advantageous)
* Ability to manage and develop staff in a participative, consultative manner
* Strong financial management skills
* The ability to provide financial information for strategic business decisions
* The ability to implement accounting standards and accepted business practices in financial reporting
* The ability to produce and deliver accessible and informative financial reports on tight deadlines
* Computer literacy with strong Excel skills is essential

Senior Financial Accountant

A Cape Town-based NPO specialising in legal rights is looking to hire a Senior Financial Accountant with experience in the NPO sector to assist and support the Chief Financial & Operations Officer (CFOO) to ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the NPO and to implement efficient and diligent financial practices.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Provision of effective and efficient financial and administrative support to the CFOO
  • Perform the full financial accounting function, including procurement processes and variance analysis
  • Facilitate and prepare the budget and forecast processes for the organisation, drawing figures and information from regional offices and ensuring it aligns with organisational objectives
  • Understanding contracts and assessing whether transactions are aligned to contract terms
  • Maintain internal control system and ensure compliance with company policies
  • Assist in development of institutional and donor proposal budgets & external audits
  • Preparation of local and international payments
  • Timely submission of monthly and annual financial reports;
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register, depreciation and assessment of useful life
  • Ensuring compliance with tax and accounting laws and regulations
  • Prepare and administer payroll and tax remittance

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree (BCom)
  • Qualified accountant with at least five years’ post articles experience in financial accounting and reporting
  • Full financial accounting function, including procurement experience and a strong working knowledge of Pastel or similar accounting software
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS for SMMEs and strong working knowledge in local GAAP
  • Experience in multi-donor financial accounting and management or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the non-profit environment
  • Membership of Professional Accounting Body will be an added advantage.

Financial Accountant (CA) SA

We have a Financial Accountant role that will offer growth and challenge within a professional and dynamic finance team. The role will partner with business and provide accurate financial/management accounting reports to management timeously. This role will take full responsibility for month end and year end reports and will have oversight and co-ordination of the annual external audit.


Duties include:


  • Provide accurate and proper financial/management accounting reports to management timeously.
  • Responsible for month end and year end reports timeously, including monthly reports to CEOs
  • Reporting to SARS including VAT, STT, DWT, Provisional Tax Return, and Annual Tax Return (IT14 and IT14SD)
  • Responsible for the Reconciliation of Acumatica (General Ledger ) to management accounts.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of accounting entries posted to the General Ledger. This includes monthly processing of various provisions, depreciation, prepayments, etc.
  • Review allocations for Corporate Credit Card and upload journals to Acumatica (bank recons)
  • Responsible for day to day banking. Ensuring that accurate payments are made to authorised suppliers.
  • Cash management, monitoring weekly cash flow.
  • Oversight and co-ordination of annual External Audit of responsible entity
  • Preparing Annual Financial Statements and potentially assist with the preparation of the Consolidated Annual Financial Statements
  • Calculation of Apportionment Ratio’s
  • Quarterly reporting to Board (entity specific and group specific)
  • Assist with FSCA Reporting
  • Assist with activities within the operations space, including

o Preparation of client fee calculations in terms of mandate

o Implementation of any mandate changes in client fee calculations

  • Reconciling Bank accounts
  • Processing Journals to Acumatica
  • Participate in the weekly finance team meeting, and ensure action points are followed up on
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Assist with streamlining the Capex Process
  • Group reporting and Reconciliation of inter-company balances
  • Develop and document business processes, and keeping this document updated
  • Keep up with financial policies, regulations and tax legislation relating to group entities
  • Streamline and recommend improvements to current systems and processes
