Our client is a leading luxury hospitality management group operating an extensive portfolio of hotels, safari lodges, and lifestyle destinations across Africa. The Financial Manager will be responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the full accounting and financial function of a division within the group. It also plays a strategic part in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and supporting executive management in financial decision-making to optimize profitability. The role is best suited to someone who is detail orientated, analytical, deadline driven, a problem solver and enjoys building and managing a team.
Key Responsibilities
Manage accounting records, in line with reporting standards and Group Finance SOPs.
Day-to-day processing of all financial data (invoices, journals).
Monthly preparation of the management accounts and executive summary.
Processing of all relevant monthly journal entries.
Process and reconcile the cashbooks/bank accounts.
Reconcile & process of the monthly payroll including medical aid and pension funds.
Reconcile monthly VAT.
Ensure proper procedures and controls for purchasing, receiving, stores and requisitioning.
Review and interrogate monthly stock take reports.
Preparation of the annual budget and monthly monitoring of spend in line with budget.
Preparation of monthly forecasts.
Maintain the debtors and suppliers age analysis.
Co-ordinate with external auditors over the year end audit.
Oversee financial performance of business units and make recommendation for improvement
Participate in monthly feedback meetings with leadership to assist with decision making.
Collaboration and communication with Head Office finance team.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (essential)
Completed SAICA/SAIPA/CIMA articles or equivalent (preferred)
Min 5 years financial management experience, with at least 2 years in the hospitality industry
Strong knowledge of South African Tax/VAT laws and hospitality industry regulations
Proficient on SAGE Evolution & SAGE Intacct
Advanced Excel
Opera and Micros knowledge (advantageous)
Excellent understanding of financial reporting standards (IAS, IFRS)
Effective team management skills
Attention to detail and analytical acumen
Ability to work in a pressurized environment with deadlines
