Our client is a global professional services business specialising in fund, corporate, private client and institutional services. They support clients with areas such as fund administration, accounting, financial reporting, governance and regulatory compliance across multiple international jurisdictions.
The primary function of this role is to check and supervise the tasks required to successfully complete a NAV. In certain circumstances, the successful candidate may also be required to perform these tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Payment & Valuation Oversight: Review and authorise payments and valuations as an A Signatory, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with required instructions and controls
Fund Accounting & Administration: Supervise and, where required, perform investment transactions, cash management, reconciliations, trade and transaction processing, fee and accrual calculations, and quarterly financial reporting
Financial Reporting & Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and review financial statements, statutory returns, capital statements and other regulatory/client reporting within required deadlines
Team Supervision & Development: Coach, supervise and coordinate team members, including training new staff, allocating responsibilities and ensuring the team operates effectively
Process & Risk Management: Ensure policies, procedures and internal controls are followed; identify process gaps and high-risk areas, investigate errors and implement corrective actions
Query & Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve accounting, system, client, auditor and custodian queries, escalating issues where necessary to minimise errors and client impact
Client & Investor Management: Manage client queries, maintain investor registers, coordinate investor communications and ensure timely and accurate responses
Audit & Client Deliverables: Project manage client audits, coordinate deliverables and ensure agreed timelines and requirements are met
Cash, Calls & Distributions: Oversee daily cash management, cash reconciliations, investment distributions, capital calls and related accounting entries and communications
Projects & Continuous Improvement: Participate in risk reduction, efficiency and process improvement projects, ensuring actions are implemented within agreed timelines
Operational Support: Provide cover for other teams and clients when required and assist with general administrative and reporting activities
Requirements
CA (SA).
Completion of articles/trainee contract at an accounting/auditing firm.
Good accounting and investment product knowledge.
Minimum of 5 years investment fund administration or related experience (an advantage but not a prerequisite).
Ability to produce work accurately, on time and sometimes under pressure.
Good technical knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP).
Good communicator.
Able to manage own time and projects.
Excellent numeracy skills.
Attention to detail and pro-active in nature.
