Our client is an expanding franchise business with 30 stores across the Western Cape, including the George/Knysna area. They have grown quite a lot in the last 10 years, going from owning 11 stores to 30 stores.
Our client is seeking a hands-on and commercially driven Financial Controller to support its franchise operations. This role ensures financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance across multiple stores while partnering with operations to drive profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and present monthly financial results per store and consolidated group
Analyse store-level profitability (sales, food costs, labour, overheads)
Monitor key cost drivers including food, labour, and expenses
Ensure accurate daily sales reconciliation and cash control processes
Ensure SARS compliance (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax)
Oversee audit readiness and internal controls
Develop and maintain SOPs for finance and store processes
Design and enhance financial and operational reporting
Manage creditors, debtors, and accounting staff
Monitor cash flow and working capital across stores
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Honours Degree in Accounting (preferred)
Completed SAICA Articles
0–2 years post-articles experience
Exposure to retail, FMCG or QSR environments (advantageous)
Strong knowledge of SARS compliance
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with accounting systems (Sage, Xero, etc.)
POS systems experience (advantageous)
Commercial and operational mindset
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and high accuracy
Ability to work in fast-paced environment
Strong communication and leadership skills
